Decimal commas in a Shopify CSV: what should you change?
A cell containing 21,90 € needs two checks: the number format and the currency of the selling price.
Three checks before importing
- Identify the price. Confirm that it is your intended selling price. A supplier’s cost alone does not determine what you should charge.
- Enter the amount in
Price. Use21.90, without€orEUR. Shopify documents a decimal point for the amount. Commas separate the CSV columns. See the official format. - Check the store currency. Go to Settings → General. Replacing a comma with a point does not convert currencies. Product prices are set in the store currency. See the currency settings.
Example cell
Source: 21,90 EUR
Price : 21.90
This correction assumes a confirmed EUR selling price and a store using EUR. For 1,234, confirm the source number format before deciding whether it means a decimal amount or a thousand.
Does the CSV show whether tax is included?
The number alone does not establish this. Confirm with the source whether the price includes or excludes tax, and check the store’s tax settings. See Shopify’s pricing details.
A file check does not replace the Shopify import or checking the resulting product in the admin.
